Caesarians are also known as “c-sections”. This is when an animal has issues whelping so veterinary intervention is required to help the animal and young.

Caesarians can happen due to a number of varying factors including:

  • breed predisposition
  • inertia (unwilling to push!)
  • abnormal size of foetuses
  • position of foetus

Signs of possibly needing a caesarian:

  • lack of progression through stages of labour
  • expectant mother seems stressed
  • overdue
