Keeping your pet a steady and healthy weight can be tricky, and in some pets it becomes more difficult after they are neutered, or as they get older. The same as in people, a healthy weight is important for general health, and being overweight or underweight can have uncomfortable or serious consequences on your pet. Overweight animals are more likely to suffer from various diseases, including diabetes, urinary tract diseases, arthritis and heart disease. Underweight animals may already be unwell, so a vet should be consulted in most cases. Many problems can cause weight loss, so your vet will examine the animal and advise on the best course of action for finding the cause of the weight loss. We are fully equipped to perform many tests at our practice to ensure that the process is as convenient as possible.
