Gastroscope

This is a long camera that is used to look into your hoses stomach to see if there are any ulcers.

This procedure will mean your horse will be starved overnight and water taken away a few hours before we do this so we can see clearly at the bits we need to! Your horse will then be sedated and have this long camera passed up their nostril, down their throat into their food pipe and into their stomach.

We then steer the camera round to look at the stomach from all angles to see if there are any lurking ulcers in there!

We may suggest having this done if your horse has poor performance or has weight loss.

We can do this on the yard but often suggest them coming into our Burlyns surgery for this to be done.
